Murphy is a dear, gentle boy who used to be paired with Riley. Unfortunately Riley became argumentative and they had to be separated. I'm happy to say that Murphy has been desexed and as such can be adopted as a mate for one or more female piggies.
Mishka is a piggy from the Lady Ga Ga Easter surrender. She has a beautiful friendly nature and gets on well with her seven housemates. She is quite active and curious and likes to explore her surroundings. Mishka spent some time in foster care where she gave birth to a cute little girl Zhu Zhu who has since been adopted. My wish is for Mishka to also find a new loving forever home.
Bonny came to the shelter in the same surrender as Mishka. She spent several weeks in foster where she too gave birth to two babies, Raymond and Chester, who were recently desexed under our early-age desexing programme. Bonny is a quiet and rather reserved little girl. She gets on well with all her housemates and I'm sure she would soon grow to love cuddles.
ADOPTED: I was overjoyed today to see Murphy, Mishka and Bonny be adopted together into the same home. They have been residing in a large run here at the shelter with five other piggies so have already formed a bond. Having seen them on the website Jessica had already more or less decided on these three gorgeous guineas and even after meeting some of the others she stuck with her original decision. They are going to be mainly indoor piggies and will be getting heaps of love and attention from Jessica who is a true guinea pig lover, and her husband Ivan. I waved a happy goodbye to them as they left on the journey to their new home in Annerley.
UPDATE FROM JESSICA: I took some really lovely photos of the guinea pigs a couple of days ago (Murphy likes to pose!). We renamed Bonny "Mabel" (which means "lovable", which of course she is) and Mishka "Paloma" (Spanish for "dove" -- she's just so grey and soft and pretty, everyone whose seen the piggies so far has said that Paloma is their favourite. She actually looks semi-long haired in some of the pictures. I definitely think she has a bit of Gaga in her!).
They've all settled in well and are really well-behaved when they're all out for cuddle time. I can even have all three on my lap for extended periods of time now without someone burrowing under someone else and causing a scuffle (even Mable/Bonny loves to be out now). They've really become calm and used to their new home. I just wanted to thank you for letting me adopt them, they're such lovely pigs and have brought so much happiness into our lives already. I really look forward to coming home from work everyday to give them all a cuddle and say hello. They're our babies now.
I would love to sponsor a male guinea pig to be de-sexed when you next have a male that doesn't get along with other boys. Murphy is so happy living with Paloma and Mabel (although he does chase them away when he's eating something, haha) so I'd love to help a lonely male piggy have the kind of life Murphy has living with other pigs.
