George & Ringo

Sex: Male Guinea Pigs
Age: George approx 6 months  Ringo approx 5 months
Desexed: No
ADOPTED: 8th May 2010

George was handed in to the shelter on 13th September. He had been found in the backyard of a house in Carrara by the family dog - a Rhodesian Ridgeback who proudly presented his owners with his latest find. Fortunately he was a very gentle dog and no damage had been done! The family were quite taken with George and thought of keeping him if they couldn't find his owners. They asked all their neighbours if anyone had lost a guinea pig but no-one came forward to claim him. After a week they decided that, knowing nothing about guinea pigs and worried their dog might end up hurting him, it would be better for George to be handed over to a shelter where he would be looked after and would have a good chance of being rehomed.

Ringo came to the shelter as one of eight in the Mrs Nibbles surrender. He was extremely skittish and didn't like to be picked up at all, but after being paired with George and spending several weeks with a foster family he has calmed down immensely and will sit quietly in a lap. He and George make a real cute couple and can only be rehomed as a pair. If they appeal to you please contact us to arrange a viewing.

ADOPTED: As I keep telling all my little piggies, one day your human will come along, the one whose going to fall in love with you and take you to your forever home. Well, today was the day for little Georgie and his best mate Ringo. Max had been wanting guinea pigs for quite a while and when his mum thought he was ready it was off to the shelter to choose his new pets. Within five minutes of being here Max had chosen George and Ringo. They settled in his lap as if they knew they belonged there. It was lovely to see and while I'll miss Georgie's cute little face peering through the door of his hutch, I am so happy to see them leave the shelter and go to their new home in Tallai where there are two dogs (one named George!) who I'm sure will be more than a little curious about the new family members :)

UPDATE 9th May: George and Ringo have settled into their new home and now go by the names Rocco and Kevin.
